Gabe Elsner is the Executive Director of the Energy & Policy Institute, a think tank that conducts investigative research and reporting on attacks on clean energy policies. Prior to founding the Energy & Policy Institute, Gabe ran the Checks & Balances Project, a pro-clean energy watchdog group, and implemented the first statewide campaign for the California Student Sustainability Coalition to defeat Proposition 23, the 2010 ballot funded by fossil fuel companies. Gabe also trained and rallied students to have a voice on Capitol Hill during the climate bill debate - with Power Shift 2007 and 2009 resulting in the largest citizen lobby days in U.S. history. He graduated magna cum laude with a B.A. in Political Science from the University of California, Berkeley after writing a thesis comparing the responses of Brazil and the United States of America after the energy security crisis of the early 1970s.
