DIRECTOR - CLEAN ENERGY INSTITUTE OF GPEKS Frederic has a Multidisciplinary background in renewable energy technologies, business and marketing, information technology, as an adult educator and technical trainer. EXPERIENCE WITH CLEAN ENERGY Frederic's involvement with the professional renewable energy sector goes back to the early eighties. Starting in 1984, he worked as a consultant on feasibility studies for the solarization of public pools for a branch of the French "Conseil d'Architecture, d'Urbanisme et d'Environnement". In 1985, he planned and managed one of the largest solar energy campaigns co-sponsored by the French government and the Solar Industry Association (previously called Helioplan). Later, he worked for the leading French Manufacturer of Solar Energy at one of its subsidiaries in Southern France. he has been contracted by the "Agence Francaise pour la Maitrise de l'Energie" as a residential and commercial energy auditor. He was president of the non-profit association Solar Service International from 1987 to 1988, became president of The Green Power Network in 2001, and then started Green Power Environment Knowledge Systems - GPEKS Constructions in the fall of 2002. As the principal of GPEKS Constructions, he has initiated and managed dozens of renewable energy feasibility studies since the creation of this company, and have been very active on projects in developing countries, especially Africa. He has worked extensively with the Canadian Solar Industry Association (CanSIA) on various outreach and technical education projects. He was commissioned by CanSIA to co-develop the Canadian Certification curriculum for Installers of Solar Water Heating equipment, and developed the first set of exams for that certification. EDUCATION Frederic's formal education started in France and includes a technical university undergraduate degree majoring in solar thermal energy applied to housing and construction, "Héliothermie appliquée à l'habitat" from the University of Perpigan. He complemented his formal education by taking a distance education course with Educatel (France) in Renewable energies to polish his skills in other renewable technologies (1984). Realizing that the challenges for renewable energy development were just as much related to business development as they were about technology improvements, he complemented his post secondary education with a business degree and graduated from a school of the French National Network of Business Schools "Réseau National des Écoles de Gestion et Commerce" - affiliated with the Université de Limoges. This was followed by an additional year of study focused on international trade at the University of Nice where he obtained the Diploma of the "Institut des Techniques d'Exportation" (1988). BUSINESS AND TEACHING EXPERIENCE Frederic has been running businesses since 1990. His first operation "Effective Computing and Consulting" was based in London and focused on providing IT and consulting services to small businesses. Between 1992 and 2000, he was extensively involved with the delivery of adult education workshops in the Canadian National Capital Region and have trained over 10,000 people face to face in small groups of up to 30. he has delivered over 70 different course titles and have acquired a number of qualifications as a professional educator including Productivity Point International's Trainer's certificate, Microsoft Certified Trainer (1997), Microsoft Certified Solution Developer, Coldfusion Certified Instructor (2000), Comptia Certified Technical Trainer (2002) In the area of Project Management, he have acquired the title of "Project Management Certified Professional" from Learning Tree International (2002), and the Project Management Institute PMP Certification equivalence by successfully completing required courses at the Université du Québec en Outaouais (2005 - Project Management Certificate Program and other advanced courses in project Management).
