About Eric

With two decades of complex administrative law acumen at his disposal, Eric strategically advises and defends clients in the alternative energy and electric utility industries. This wealth of knowledge keeps corporations and executives ahead in the marketplace and focused on the future. A member of the firm’s Energy & Natural Resources industry team, Eric has helped guide solar, biofuel and wind projects to completion. In addition, Eric assists emerging technology companies in accessing startup funding and risk capital. He has represented a large investor-owned electric utility holding company in multistate and multijurisdictional transactions and regulatory proceedings. He also advised the largest electric transmission and distribution utility in Texas on regulatory and market entry issues. He has counseled cities and private land owners in major electric utility rate cases and electric transmission siting matters.

His work in the energy industry includes:

- Representing the U.S. Department of Energy in securing funding for the largest high-concentrating solar-photovoltaic generation station in the world.

- Advising solar and biofuel-related companies and startup clean-technology enterprises.

- Counseling in a unique coal mine methane gas-recovery system and carbon-offset verification program.

Eric also has deep experience that extends to telecommunications transactions and litigation, including interconnection agreements and wireless communication issues. He has worked closely with the antitrust division of the federal Department of Justice on local competition under the Telecommunications Act of 1996.

Before joining Husch Blackwell, Eric was mayor of Manitou Springs in Colorado, where he participated in the governor’s energy office initiatives to implement energy efficiency strategies on behalf of the city.
