Dirk Volkmann
BIO: Dirk Volkmann, CEO Dirk Volkmann is a German citizen with more than 30 years of experience in the industrial installations and contracting industry, during the most recent years in Renewables (i.e. Biogas, Bioethanol, Biomass conversion, Photovoltaics, Wind and Hydro Power). He was a Board Member of the renowned Leipzig Institute for Energy and Environment (now a subsidiary of the German Ministry of Agriculture and renamed to German Biomass Research Centre) and he was MD of various companies dedicated to biofuels and biomass conversion technologies since the year 2000: inter alia CEO of FUTURE ENERGY GmbH in Freiberg, Germany, a company – taken over and renamed by Siemens in 2006 - with a proprietary process for the conversion of solid feedstock such as coal and biomass into syngas through partial oxidation, a product which can be converted into Fischer-Tropsch diesel or other chemicals. He now works for the Deutsche Energieagentur (dena) on their export promotion program ‘Exportinitiative’ in various countries, teaches biofuels at the renac (Renewables Academy) in Berlin and is a member of various international organizations dedicated to renewable energy. Mr. Volkmann works as a consultant for various companies, entities and organizations throughout the world in the areas of project development, project management, finance and M&A advisory.
