Chris Herman

BIO: Chris Herman, Owner

Chris has been consulting on and designing/drawing plans for complete, green, solar homes for 23 years in the Pacific Northwest. Passive solar design education started at the University of New Mexico, and has never ended. He is certified by the National Council of Building Designers, as a professional building designer, and the American Lung Association, WA Chapter, as a Healthy House Consultant/Designer. He is a founding, active member of the Northwest Eco-Building Guild, with 7 chapters in WA, OR, and Idaho. And a founding board member and past president of Solar Washington, the state chapter of the American Solar Energy Society, of which he is also a life member. Most recently, Chris is a founding and current board member of Sustainable Edmonds and the Interim President and Board Chair of the first community owned solar co-op in the state. He designs and sells solar electric and solar hot water systems for dealer/installers throughout Washington, teaches classes, writes articles and speaks on solar/green building at every opportunity. He is the creator of Snohomish PUD’s Solar Express incentive program and Chris is also a 20 year FEMA reservist, involved husband and father, and an avid whitewater river runner.
