Paul Farren

BIO: Paul Farren, CEO

Biography: Paul Farren is the owner and CEO of the Energy Store in Hollywood, Florida. The Energy Store is a unique, new type of business, conceived by Mr. Farren that provides "renewable energy" products for a sustainable future; like compact fluorescent and LED light bulbs, solar energy systems, energy efficient appliances and gadgets for sale in a retail store environment. The Energy Store also provides consultation, design and installation of energy saving solutions, solar systems and wind systems for businesses and residents. Paul was born and raised in Richmond, Virginia where he attended public schools. He has attended the University of Miami, The American University and graduated with a Bachelor of Science Degree in Advertising from Virginia Commonwealth University. He received a Master of Science degree in Radio/Television from Syracuse University. He has worked in network television where he was a member of the Directors Guild of America and the National Association of Broadcast Employees and Technicians. He was President of Gardy McGrath International, an award winning television and internet production company in Reston, Virginia. He spent more than two decades consulting, designing and selling high-end television systems, executive board rooms and auditorium presentation systems, before moving to South Florida to pursue his vision of founding a renewable energy business. He has historically been involved with environmental concerns and issues. In the early 70’s he founded a health food restaurant called “Healthy Foods” and a craft co-op called “Earthworks”. He attended the very first Earthday in Washington, DC on April 22, 1970. He is currently a member of the Hollywood (Florida) Green Team Advisory Committee, The Green League of Broward, Global Warning South Florida and the Broward Workforce Development Board. He also serves on the Institute for Sustainable Resources Board at Broward College and is a member of the Employ Florida Alternative Energy Banner Center Advisory Council at the Florida Solar Energy Center. He is also a member of The Broward Alliance Green Workforce Think Tank, The Broward Energy Training Partnership, The South Florida Green Jobs Collaborative and is on the Board of Directors of The Florida Green Energy Council. He is regularly interviewed by television, newspaper and internet media on renewable energy and sustainability issues. Since his recent re-involvement in the renewable energy industry, he has become certified by the Florida Solar Energy Center (FSEC) for photovoltaic installations, The Midwest Renewable Energy Association (MREA) and by several manufacturers and distributors of renewable energy products. He is a member of the American Solar Energy Society (ASES), The Florida Alliance for Renewable Energy (FARE), the Florida Renewable Energy Association (FREA), the Florida Solar Energy Industries Association (FlaSEIA), the United States Green Building Council (USGBC), the Greater Hollywood Chamber of Commerce and the Downtown Hollywood Business Association. His outside interests include golf and other sports, photography, theater, art and music.
