About Joy

Living off the grid in Colorado's sunny San Luis Valley, Joy Hughes is the founder of the Solar Gardens Institute. SGI is helping citizens' groups and developers build community owned energy everywhere. Joy worked on the Human Genome Project and the Mars Global Surveyor at Caltech, followed by Apple Computer and five Silicon Valley start-ups. She has escaped from her cubicle to advocate for distributed energy.
