My experience began with residential repair and maintenance and expanded into solar hot water and passive solar for residential. It evolved into doing additions and more extensive renovations as well as historic restoration and evolved through experience to super energy efficient passive solar residential construction. I joined the USGBC in 2003 and became a LEED AP in 2004. My wife and I co founded the Lehigh Valley Green Builders Forum (www.lvgreenbuilders.org) in 2004 to educate about green building. As a result of learning to educate about green building I have learned that very few businesses truly understand how inefficient our buildings and machinery are and I have begun selling energy improvements for commercial buildings and manufacturers along with energy improvements for existing residences. I have recently become a Building Performance Institute Certified Building Analyst which allows me to qualify my residential clients for lower interest rates on loans for energy efficiency improvements through the Keystone Help Loan program of AFC First Financial Since 2000 I have been researching anaerobic digestion with the belief that a modular prefabricated high performance line of anaerobic digesters is needed for the technology to become affordable on small farms. Another interest is wood gasification technology, which uses wood and other organic waste to run generators or boilers while producing less polution than burning oil. My belief is that each of us can work to use our energy more frugally and work to produce energy locally as we move towards energy independence and reduced environmental impact.
