BIO: Bob Tregilus, Co-host

I consult in the fields of renewable energy, electric drive transportation, community organizing, social capital, spatial planning, public opinion, and lobbying. My academic training and professional experience includes: public policy, environmental and constitutional policy and law, political science, cultural anthropology, and the physical sciences. I'm the co-founder (2006) and co-chair of the Electric Auto Association of Northern Nevada (EAANN) which is actively involved in the community on a number of projects including the installation of a functioning "smart-garage" display at the National Auto Museum (The Harrah Collection) in my home town of Reno, Nevada. I've been a regular guest on the electric vehicle podcast, EVcast, where I offered a policy oriented view of electric vehicles and the infrastructure required to support them. In December 2009, myself and former EVcast weekend host, Nikki Gordon-Bloomfield of Bristol, UK, founded and together co-host the international weekly show, This Week in Energy (TWiEpodcast) which features experts from around the world discussing all aspects of the nexus between energy and society. For the last two years, I have been laying the ground work and building a broad-spectrum coalition to support the adoption of a renewable energy feed-in tariff law in the State of Nevada in 2011. As of July 2010, State Senator and Chair of the Energy, Transportation, and Infrastructure Committee, Mike Schneider, has confirmed that a 2011 bill draft request will be reserved for FITs. My goal is to help usher in "smart-garage" technology: the place where buildings (with distributed generation capacity), plug-in transportation, and the electric grid merge into a synergistic relationship that will secure America's energy future while displacing fossil-fuel consumption in both transportation and electrical energy generation that contributes to greenhouse gas emissions and climate change.
