Discounts incentivize Corvallis, Oregon residents to take up the cause
Kingston, NY SunWize Residential Power Systems, the premier solar installation division of SunWize Technologies, Inc., has expanded its acclaimed Neighborhood Solar Program to include city-wide Solar Challenges. It has chosen Corvallis, home to its Oregon operations, to commence the program.
We chose Corvallis to inaugurate the Solar Challenge program because of our Oregon office's long standing civic involvement, the strong sense of community in Corvallis, and the city's green focus" explains David Kaltsas, Executive Vice President at SunWize. "We thought it would provide a terrific boost to the existing efforts and direction already in place."
The SunWize Solar Challenge is intended to catalyze an entire city or town toward achieving a significant renewable energy goal. The Corvallis Solar Challenge is aimed at adding 60,000 watts of clean, solar energy to the city’s power production in 60 days. To spur interest, SunWize is offering a volume discount and a donation to the Corvallis High School student-led Green Club, if the goal is met. The Green Club has an initiative underway to install 100kW of photovoltaic panels on the school. SunWize is holding informational kick-off meetings at the Corvallis High School on Thursday October 8th from 6:00 to 8:00PM and Saturday October 10th from 10:00 AM to 12 noon. The presentations include solar testimonials from Corvallis residents, including SunWize customers Mayor Charlie Tomlinson and his wife Maria. SunWize is offering discounts off of market price ranging from 5 percent for 5 homes, 10 percent for 10 homes, and 15 percent for 15 homes or more. Coupled with existing Energy Trust of Oregon incentives, the state tax credit, and the Federal tax credit, this program can reduce the total cost of a 3 kW SunWize solar electric system by up to 86%.
