The Powerex 6^th Generation NX-S Series IGBT

Richardson RFPD is pleased to announce the availability of the newest IGBT technology enhancement, Powerex’s 6^th Generation NX-S Series, for the rapidly growing high-power semiconductor industry. These new IGBTs are ideally suited for all types of power inverter applications as they offer the industry’s highest efficiency while also offering the expanded capabilities listed below:

• Ultra-low-loss performance (20% lower than the 5^th Generation IGBTs).
• Backwards-compatible packaging with the 5^th Generation NX Series (no re-design needed).
• Lower junction temperatures can lead to reduced space, weight and cost for the thermal management sub-system required for a given inverter.
• Aluminum Nitride (AlN) ceramic substrate (preferred coefficient of thermal expansion when compared to alumina substrate) reduces thermal stress and increases reliability and module life.
• More than 10 µs short circuit capability and excellent paralleling characteristics.
• Reduced EMI (easier to earn CE mark for medical inverter systems, etc.).
• Comprehensive line-up of 1200V parts.
