The challenges currently being faced in the energy sector illustrate how the global increased use of renewable energy resources is placing ever heavier demands on managers in the energy industry. To be able to bring complex challenges such as sustainability and cost effectiveness into being, young managers need comprehensive and targeted qualifications. Participants in the new online MBA Renewables program will be prepared by its interdisciplinary approach to meet the coming challenges.
Starting now, the MBA Renewables is once again open for applications from students worldwide. Participants will not only acquire management skills, but also learn to deal with renewable energy technologies, their economics and policy- and legal-frameworks.
MBA students from the first year of the program, launched in October 2011 by the Beuth University of Applied Sciences Berlin and the Renewables Academy (RENAC), will be coming together between 29.5 and 8.6 for an on-campus phase in Berlin. Twenty five out of the 40 students from 10 different countries will participate in this voluntary on-campus module, which deals with the practical implementation of renewable energy technologies. The students come from a wide range of regions, such as the USA, Croatia, Mozambique, Ecuador, Switzerland, Jordan, Australia, Portugal, Saudi Arabia and others. The professional backgrounds of the participants are as varied as their cultures; in parallel with their studies they have careers in energy companies, development organizations, financial institutions and other sectors.
Most of the students are undertaking the MBA Renewables with a clear goal in mind. For example, Vera Matute Cano in Honduras, who works for the Honduran embassy in Berlin: "As an architect, I consider that architecture presents a unique challenge in the field of sustainability. I decided to enroll in the MBA Renewables to integrate my architectural career with electrical, mechanical and structural engineering. In addition, I was concerned about long term environmental and economic costs, and about being able to contribute to my country's sustainability."
Media representatives are cordially invited to meet the students during their stay in Berlin and to participate in selected events. Interested parties can find more information about the application process on the website: www.mba-renewables.de.
