RENAC is continuing to run its successful "TREE - Transfer Renewable Energy and Efficiency" international training program with the support of the German Foreign Office, with the focus moving to new countries. From November 2011 the specific needs for building up educational offerings in renewable energy and energy efficiency for 10 new target countries will be worked out, in cooperation with the ministries and public institutions concerned. On this basis, specific courses for the transfer of know how will be developed. The TREE project has been funded for almost 3 years by the German Environment Ministry and has enabled the transfer of knowledge about sustainable energy supplies to political and economic decision-makers from over 50 countries.

This time the focus is being set on Russian and Portuguese speaking countries such as Angola, Azerbaijan, Kazakhstan, Mongolia, Mozambique, Russia, Tajikistan, Turkmenistan and the Ukraine. South Africa also remains in the TREE project’s focus around the topic of the grid integration of renewable energy.

Many of the target countries have already set ambitious targets for the development of sustainable energy supplies. Often, however, an overall strategy for the building of the necessary know-how in the various educational institutions, adapted to the different stages of the renewable energy value chain, is lacking.

"Through this further development to the TREE project, we can now extend the transfer of expertise in renewable energy and energy efficiency through offerings to Russian and Portuguese speaking countries - those that until now we could only reach in a limited way owing to the English content," said RENAC’s CEO, Berthold Breid.

RENAC, as an international provider of training in renewable energies and energy efficiency, has so far trained participants from over 100 countries in Berlin and abroad and through its Blended Learning program offers customised training with a high practical content to targeted groups. Participants from the public sector as well as project developers, engineers or financiers benefit from courses in the technology, adoption policies, financing and project management that are specifically adapted to the target group and their background.
