Natural Power's Asset Management Team take point at Infinis sites

Emilia Coverdale
June 08, 2011

Leading renewable energy consultancy group, Natural Power, has completed site management contractual agreements for 67MW of wind farm sites for UK renewable power generation group, Infinis. This takes Natural Power's site management portfolio to 1.2 GW across the UK & Ireland representing 25% of the UK's onshore operational wind capacity.

Natural Power will be providing Total Wind Farm Management Services on behalf of Infinis at the 37MW Minsca wind farm in Dumfries & Galloway, Scotland, consisting of 16 x 2.3MW Siemens turbines, and the 30MW Dalswinton wind farm, north of Dumfries, Scotland, consisting of 15 x 2MW Repower turbines. The team will conduct the following standard services on both projects:

  • WindCentre – Natural Power’s 24/7/365 operational control centre, conforming to Wind Turbine Safety Rules
  • Local Site Management
  • High Voltage system management and duty holder responsibility

In addition, Natural Power will also be providing a unique set of forecasting and grid nomination services to Infinis, liaising with the National Grid and the PPA company as appropriate. A combination of wind farm production forecasting through Natural Power’s ForeSite product, coupled with ongoing operational information in WindCentre will assist Infinis in maximising production and minimising PPA risk.

Speaking about the Infinis contracts Scott MacKenzie, Director of Asset Management at Natural Power said: “Natural Power are very proud to be supporting Infinis on these projects, offering the core site management services such as WindCentre while taking the opportunity to further expand our capabilities to assist in grid nominations. The team have successfully managed a rapid handover on these sites and our overall client portfolio now stands at 1 in 4 UK onshore MWs which is an incredible achievement. This further establishes Natural Power as the leading independent asset management team in the UK.”

Steven Hardman, Commercial Director at Infinis welcomed the appointment of Natural Power commenting: “Acquiring the Minsca and Dalswinton wind farms has taken the commercial and operational activities of Infinis to a new and sophisticated level and we are very fortunate to have the skills and resources of Natural Power to support us”.
