Washington, DC (October 3, 2008) – Statement of National Hydropower Association Executive Director Linda Church Ciocci on the passage of H.R. 1424, a bill that includes key renewable energy provisions as a part of our national strategy for growing the economy:
"The National Hydropower Association applauds both the U.S. House of Representatives and the U.S. Senate for passing the Emergency Economic Stabilization Act of 2008 (H.R. 1424) with strong bipartisan support. This legislation, which extends the production tax credit (PTC) and funds the clean renewable energy bonds (CREBs) program, will ensure hydropower and new waterpower energy resources continue to be an engine for economic growth, new jobs, and clean, affordable, domestic energy. "As the voice of the country's largest renewable energy resource, the National Hydropower Association stands ready to work with Congress on further efforts to bring the economic, energy, and environmental benefits of hydropower to all Americans."
