MREA PV 407.01 Battery-Based PV Systems

Course Description

PV systems that employ batteries require significant design considerations. Whether using batteries with a bimodal or stand-alone system, battery selectiion and sizing is challenging. This course will provide a comprehensive overview of the issues surrounding the use of batteries for PV applications.

Course Objectives

Upon completion of this course, participants will be able to:

• Define site issues including: client goals, array placement, balance of system placement
• Explain how to choose the appropriate system type
• Identify product choices and explain methods for product specification
• Define code issues in product choices and hardware specification
• Define methods and tools for properly sizing PV systems
• Explain methods for product integration
• Identify the capabilities and limits of specific systems
• Present common mistakes in system design and their solutions
