Training Catalog and University Directory Available at IREC

August 17, 2009
Two directories are now available at the Interstate Renewable Energy Council's (IREC) web site to help people find training and university programs in the solar and renewable energy fields.

The University Directory has recently been launched and includes information on 4-year universities offering undergraduate and graduate courses in renewable energy and energy efficiency.  A Google map helps locate Universities.  The database offers other search capabilities.  Since this is a new directory, more listings will be added soon.  Check back often for updates:  University Directory.

The Training Catalog has been updated to incorporate a Google map and capabilities have been expanded to provide searches by state, onsite vs. online, and technology:  Training Catalog.

Please note, each of these is only a listing – similar to the Yellow Pages.  Inclusion in these listings does not imply approval of the courses or providers listed.   IREC recommends that potential students carefully check course content, references from other students, and that the training is taught by a legal entity in an environment with appropriate facilities, tools, and safe practices.

Pat Fox, IREC’s newest team member focused on workforce development issues, has been expanding these features in the Training Catalog and the University Directory.  Ms. Fox is also actively updating several other features and information on IREC's Workforce Development page.   The Resources & Links section of this page now includes information about resources related to the credentialing of RE and EE professionals, general workforce development resources, and job boards focused on green collar jobs.

For more information about the University Directory or the Training Catalog, contact Pat Fox at patfox@irecusa.org.

The Interstate Renewable Energy Council, formed in 1982 as a non-profit organization, supports market-oriented services targeted at education, coordination, procurement, the adoption and implementation of uniform guidelines and standards, workforce development, and consumer protection.
