(January 4, 2013) LONDON – Galvanising figurehead of the ethanol community, General Wesley Clark, announced his involvement as a keynote speaker at the global leading World Biofuels Markets Congress and Exhibition, with the words “Now is the time for the industry to unite in order to succeed.”

Retired four-star general of the US Army and former Supreme Allied Commander Europe of NATO, Clark is now co-chairman of US ethanol lobbying group Growth Energy.  Speaking to Green Power Conferences recently, he affirmed "Biofuels represent the most immediate access to low-carbon transportation; they exploit new agriculture technologies and open the way for 21st Century biorefining. They are a growing and critically important element of the 21st Century economy."

Join the World Biofuels Markets Congress and Exhibition, on 12 - 14 March, for the chance to hear more from General Clark on the US ethanol industry, the food vs. fuel debate, global energy independence, economic and security perspectives and innovating our way to a sustainable bioeconomy.

“The current biofuels industry is in a state of flux so we are delighted to welcome inspiring individuals who are promoting the industry’s place in our global economy” said Claire Poole, Head of Biofuels at Green Power Conferences, “General Clark will bring economic, political and security considerations to the debate, due to his extensive experience as a military leader, investment banker, alternative energy leader, author and businessman.”

Other exceptional leaders who will join our keynote plenary sessions at World Biofuels Markets include CEO of BP Biofuels, Philip New; Jonathan Porritt, Founder Director of Forum for the Future; IEA Executive Director, Maria van der Hoeven; Michael Eckhart, Managing Director and Global Head of Environmental Finance, Citigroup; Hans Smits, Chief Executive Officer of Port of Rotterdam and Petri Vasara of Pöyry. Panel sessions will be exclusively moderated by British political commentator, author and television presenter Jonathan Dimbleby.
