The vehicle market is being touted by many as the most promising end market for biogas producers, and represents perhaps the cleanest viable option for transportation fuel.
The natural gas vehicle market is experiencing considerable growth, driven in part by nationwide expansion of fuelling infrastructure that makes fleet conversion a more viable consideration. For biogas producers, this is opening an exciting end market option for upgraded biomethane. Although incentives are currently lacking and prices are hindered by cheap fossil natural gas, longer term price stability of biomethane and tapping into CSR offer an attractive future.
Biomethane is also serving an increasing role on a smaller scale, with biomethane production and fuelling facilities serving local fleets. Such a model can be a lucrative option for waste managers and municipalities, and numerous example projects are operational including Altamont, CA, DeKalb County GA and St Landry Parish, LA.
This October, the American Biogas Council have joined forces with Green Power Conferences to present a workshop designed for biogas project developers looking to expand their options for their product, gas infrastructure and upgrading equipment suppliers, vehicle fleet managers and other professionals looking to explore this exciting market. This one day post-conference workshop will give delegates the opportunity to explore the biomethane for transportation market in depth.
Key agenda items to be discussed include the growth of the natural gas vehicle market and the opportunity for biomethane; promoting awareness in the market and encouraging natural gas vehicle purchases; competition with conventional natural gas: understanding the natural gas market dynamics; development of the Renewable Fuel Standard as a stimulus for biomethane; installation of an economic renewable natural gas fuelling infrastructure and more.
The workshop takes place on 9 October 2012 in San Francisco ahead of the 4th annual Biogas USA West conference. For more information visit www.greenpowerconferences.com/biogaswest
