Acclaimed German Solar House, dasHAUS, Announces Tour Stop in Tempe
Tempe, Ariz. – The German American Chambers of Commerce are happy to announce Tempe will mark the third stop on the North American tour of dasHAUS, an internationally acclaimed exhibition that connects industry professionals in North America with the latest market-ready renewable energy and energy efficiency solutions from Germany.
Presented in partnership with the City of Tempe, Arizona State University, and the German American Chambers of Commerce, the highly anticipated dasHAUS exhibit will be open to the public from January 21st to January 30th at the Tempe Arts Park, located at 700 West Rio Salado Parkway, Tempe, AZ 85281. Admission is free.
"dasHAUS demonstrates the ultimate in energy savings," said Leisa B. Brug, energy policy advisor to Governor Jan
Brewer and director of the Governor's Office of Energy Policy. "A ‘net zero’ strategy combines the best of both worlds in
terms of energy-saving and renewable energy generation technologies, and is a great way to envision how these
strategies can offer energy opportunities for Arizona as we move into the future."
dasHAUS is an integrated, multifaceted structure that demonstrates real-world technologies and solutions for meeting ultra-low energy building standards. It draws inspiration from the Technical University of Darmstadt’s 2007 and 2009 first-place entries in the Solar Decathlon, an international solar house competition presented by the US Department of Energy.
Several special events and presentations will be part of the dasHAUS pavilion, presented by thought leaders on sustainability, green building and new methods of integration for ultra-low energy buildings, including participants from the Arizona State Univeristy, the Greather Phoenix Economic Council and Valley Forward.
"No region of the US is more dedicated to the advancement and deployment of alternative fuel strategies than the desert Southwest. To experience the award-winning dasHAUS in this setting is a unique opportunity for us to see new technologies and a model of efficiency for the future," said Senior Vice President of the ASU Foundation, Duke Reiter.
Visitors of dasHAUS in Tempe can find out about a multitude of sustainability technologies including:
Thin film photovoltaic roof, facade and louvered panel systems
Heat-recovery climate control and ventilation systems, Passive House Standard triple-pane windows
Solar-powered LED lighting systems and high-efficiency appliances
Vacuum insulated panel systems
VRLA battery systems
Advanced wall construction materials and methods
