Reno, Nev. Today, the Geothermal Energy Association kicks off its first-ever National Geothermal Summit with a VIP tour of Ormat Technologies, Inc.'s Steamboat Geothermal Power Plant Complex. The Steamboat Geothermal Power Plant Complex, located in Washoe County, generates 89 MW of clean, base-load energy and provides enough electricity to support the residential load of Reno. Comprised of seven power plants, constructed between 1988 and 2008, the Steamboat power complex is the company's flagship facility and was the first to employ Ormat's air-cooling technology.
