WHAT:
EDP Renewables NA (EDPR NA), formerly Horizon Wind Energy, will host a ribbon cutting dedication at the Timber Road II Wind Farm on Wednesday, October 5th. Timber Road II, as Ohio’s first industrial-scale wind farm, has an installed capacity of 99 MWs of clean, renewable energy. Timber Road II is expected to generate millions of dollars in landowner royalties and property tax payments over the life of the project. This is the first of four phases of this wind farm that EDPR NA plans to construct in northwestern Ohio. EDPR has entered into a long-term Power Purchase Agreement with AEP Ohio to purchase the clean electricity from Timber Road II.

WHY:
EDPR NA has been working with over 100 local landowners since 2008 to develop and construct Timber Road II, which consists of fifty-five wind turbines producing electricity to power more than 27,000 homes. This wind farm brings clean, homegrown electricity to Ohio’s power lines. The project has employed Ohio based sub contractors such as Irving Concrete (Van Wert, OH), Baker-Shindler Ready Mix (Paulding, OH), Miller Brothers Construction (Toledo, OH), New River Electrical Corporation (Westerville, OH), and Osting Drainage Tile and Repair (Van Wert, OH).
EDPR NA has also made a $60,000 contribution to the Paulding County Soil & Water Conservation Office and a $40,000 contribution to the Agricultural Extension Office. In addition, EDPR NA has partnered with Vantage Career Center in Van Wert to assist them in launching their Advanced Energy Academy which will educate and train students for careers in the renewable energy industry.
