Wind Energy Association Announces New Media Campaign as Crucial House Floor Vote on Renewable Energy Looms
In anticipation of a pivotally important vote when energy legislation reaches the floor of the U.S. House of Representatives next week, the American Wind Energy Association (AWEA) has launched a major media campaign including television advertising targeted to encourage the support of 11 key House members for a national renewable electricity standard (RES). The ads will begin to air on Sunday, July 29 in key markets.

AWEA urges Congress to enact strong Bingaman RPS,
oppose weakening Domenici Amendment
As the U.S. Congress takes up wide-ranging energy legislation, the American Wind Energy Association (AWEA) issued the following statement in support of the Renewable Portfolio Standard (RPS) proposed by the Chairman of the Senate Committee on Energy & Natural Resources, Senator Jeff Bingaman of New Mexico. Sen. Bingaman's RPS would require that 15% of the country's electricity come from wind, solar and other renewable energy sources by 2020.

As wind energy development expanded across the United States throughout 2005, the American wind energy industry continued to focus on the environmental performance of this domestically-produced, renewable, pollution-free source of electricity.
