AltaTerra Briefing to Feature Emerging Corporate and Institutional Strategies for Employee Use of Electric Vehicles

PALO ALTO, California, October 18, 2011- On Thursday, November 3 at 11:00 a.m Pacific / 2:00 p.m. Eastern, AltaTerra will present the online briefing, “Solutions for the Sustainable Enterprise: Strategies for Employee Use of Electric Vehicles.” Experts from SAP and the City of Palo Alto Utilities will join AltaTerra to discuss how enterprises are developing comprehensive plug-in electric vehicle (PEV) strategies, including guaranteeing employee PEV leases, providing fleet PEVs for short-term use, and installing charging stations on corporate campuses. 

Electric and Plug-in Electric Vehicles are receiving a great deal of attention in the media, and initial consumer interest has been strong. Yet EVs and PEVs require charging infrastructure. And given the time requirement for charging, the best opportunities are while at home and at work.

To address this, some businesses and institutions have begun installing PEV charging stations to provide support for their employees. Some, like software giant SAP, have gone further, developing a comprehensive PEV strategy, including guaranteeing employee PEV leases and providing fleet PEVs for short-term use.

In this independent, interactive 90-minute briefing, Dr. Andreas Vogel from SAP will discuss SAP's PEV program and present the business case for corporate PEV investment.  He will review SAP's current PEV efforts and discuss the challenges of managing the program.  Dr. Vogel will also present practical steps for implementing a corporate PEV program including includes charging station placement, the impact on employee parking, interfacing with utility service, and the impact on utility bills.

Shiva Swaminathan from the City of Palo Alto Utilities will discuss the role utilities play in helping to structure and implement corporate PEV programs and infrastructure, how the City and Utility are facilitating the adoption of PEVs, and ways of mitigating PEV's impact on the utility grid.
