US Utility Solar Market "Taking Off"

AltaTerra Research unveils preview of findings on the utility solar market in the US at Solar Power International in Los Angeles. The full report will be available November 1.

The preview reveals top findings from the report, including the following:

1. By the close of 2010, utility customer installations will have seen annual growth of nearly 400 percent, from 65 megawatts (MW) in 2009 to 251 MW in 2010.

2. The utility segment is now about the same size as the commercial segment, but is growing much faster than commercial and residential segments.

3. Of all utility installations, 68 percent are projects of 10 MW or greater.
