3TIER and Matney-Frantz Engineering, a leading developer of community renewable energy products, today announced a three-year Firstlook Wind Assessment partnership to further develop and expand community-scale wind projects in the United States.
“Matney-Frantz has already proven that they are a key player in community wind by leveraging the Community Renewable Energy Bond programs to develop 35 successful wind projects since 2005, “ said Brian Reidy, 3TIER’s Executive Vice President of Market Development. “We’re thrilled to be a part of this long-term partnership by providing Firstlook Wind Assessments to ensure future projects are funded and developed.”
“With Firstlook we no longer have to wait to install and collect data from an anemometer,” said Claud Matney, Principal for Matney-Frantz Engineering. “Firstlook provides the assurance that our financiers need quickly and cost-effectively—allowing us to move forward with current opportunities at the community wind scale, as soon as they arise.”
Terms of the strategic partnership provide Matney-Frantz a discounted price on Firstlook reports. In return, Matney-Frantz has committed to deliver a set number of Firstlook reports for the next three years.
In June 2007, following a year of technical development, 3TIER launched Firstlook wind assessment, an innovative, web-based tool that provides a fast, cost-effective, thorough wind resource and power assessment. Users now have online access to the first geographically seamless national wind data set that has undergone rigorous validation.
Developed by 3TIER, the Firstlook wind map is the most advanced national wind map available. Firstlook can be found on the web at firstlook.3tiergroup.com.
