Seeking European Renewable Energy Minds for New Book

As a best-selling author, educator, writer and researcher on all things renewable, Mr. Shields is following the money to Europe to highlight the positive and harsh realities that comprise the opportunities and oppressions of sustainable planetary survival.

To that end, Shields will embark upon a European expedition from April 26th through May 10th, 2012, conducting interviews for this third book, RENEWABLE ENERGY - FOLLOWING THE MONEY. 

Shields believes that a robust European presence in the book is vital to telling the story.  “Where investors may be sitting on the sidelines in the U.S., this is most certainly not the case elsewhere around the globe. Europe is proving to be a critically important part of the world in this regard — both for implementing existing clean energy technologies, and as a breeding ground for innovation as well.”

Shields spent a great deal of time in the many of the centers of European commerce in his “previous life” as a business consultant, but this trip takes on an altogether different purpose.  “I want to speak with as many people as possible who are in the process of making a difference in the deployment of renewables in Europe: entrepreneurs, investors, leaders in government, executives in the energy and automotive industries, top consultants and industry analysts, as well as those directly related to finance and the economy.”

Shields first book, Renewable Energy – Facts and Fantasies (2010) was a #1 best seller in the energy category on Amazon.com.  His second, Is Renewable Really Doable, will hit the streets in early 2012. 

As the title of his 2013 and third book (Following the Money) implies, Shields is now focusing on the tough realities that surround the migration to renewables.  “You don’t have to be Sherlock Holmes to see that the world’s wealthiest and most powerful will do anything they can to hold on to that wealth and power.  Don’t think for a minute that we’ll see any significant movement away from fossil fuels and nuclear if the world’s elite are not invited to the party.” 

Yet Shields is cautious about making too many assumptions.  “I just want to wrap my wits around the truth – and I’m fully prepared for surprises.  In fact, I’ve made a request to the subscribers of my free '2GreenEnergy Alert' newsletter: Please introduce me to people on The Continent to interview – anyone, as long as they’re making a difference in Renewable Energy.”
