The Town of Scituate, in Massachusetts has designated Solaya Energy to develop and install a utility class wind turbine to supply its municipal facilities with electricity, according to Scituate Board of Selectman.
An 80-meter 1.5-megawatt (MW) wind turbine will be located adjacent to the Waste Water Treatment Plant and is expected to generate an estimated annual energy production of over 4 gigawatt-hours.
Solaya Energy will design, construct and finance the wind turbine and all associated equipment. The Town of Scituate will lease the land to Solaya to erect the turbine and the Town will purchase power from Solaya, which will operate and maintain the turbine.
