Progress Report for Ontario's New Feed-in Tariff

Peterborough, New Hampshire [RenewableEnergyAccess.com] Ontario's Standard Offer Program created the first feed-in tariff for North America in over 20 years. Last year, Ontario government officials determined that a feed-in tariff similar to Germany's would be the best way to deploy large amounts of renewable energy quickly.

While a number of applications for large projects have been submitted, the program has seen little development of small-scale residential and commercial solar and biogas projects. Some people say that the tariffs were set too low for those industries, which is discouraging community-based development. We’ll have a report on how effective Ontario’s feed-in tariff has been thus far.
