Does anyone know what bank or institution is willing to finance purchase of a home brew biodiesel system?

Jim,
Take a look at the Permaculture Credit Union in Santa Fe, New Mexico. The PCU exists to be a funding source and financial resource for people involved in real sustainability. It's five years old and is a success story in its own right. Check our www.pcuonline.org or call 505 954-3479.

What about the (I think sensational) news that "Spanish firm claims it can make oil from plankton"
http://news.yahoo.com/news?tmpl=story&u=/nm/20060720/sc_nm/energy_spain_plankton_dc_1

... Bio Fuel Systems said its new fuel would reduce CO2, was free of other contaminants like sulphur dioxide and would be cheaper than fossil oil is now...

is this true?

Why all the Western democracies are not investing every dime and dollar into renewable and alternative energy exploration beats the heck out of me:

Are we really so short sighted that we cannot see the the blackmail and graft which eminates from the oil producing nations against the West:

Lets get rid of the need for oil and explore every avenue to renewable and alternative energy.

If we have to use oil, let it be only oil the West produces itself, for itself within its own Western borders or through its own technology. The further we get away from internation oil cartels the safer we will be, but for goodness sake, please dont go down the nuclear road:

Once oil made us rich, now it will make us poor, the oil rich nations will see to that, you betcha:
