It would appear that those against the use of solar power are trying to pull plenty of shenagins under the pretense of protection. Higher polysilicon prices will just harm the Chinese Solar Cell and Panel production and further send solar cell manufacturers to Taiwan and Korea. It should be kept in mind that China's labor and production cost advantage has disappeared since 2004. Other countries such as Indonesia and the Philippines have actually less overall cost overheads due to lower tariffs, NO VAT on solar products imported or exported, and inexpensive labor with better legal business protection for Foreigners.
