The Ivanpah project does not have a concrete tower 750 ft. tall with 85,000 heliostats. It has three, primarily metal towers 459 ft. tall. I believe the number of heliostats differs between the towers, but total about 300,000 heliostats.

So how much of the taxpayer backed 1.6 billion $ loan got wasted here? What about the 1400 jobs you promised us? Is this solyndra on steroids happening again? How long before Palen tunnels under and sucks up the rest of the 1.6 bil?

Sounds to me like someone didn't get their palms greased in this project so it was met with all sorts of "environmental" issues. Either that or not enough of the money was funneled back to Obama's campaign coffer. Sorry for being such a conspiracy theorist but I've
seen too much of this stuff going on to know if it walks like a duck, quacks like a duck.....you get the picture.

When I look at all the hoops these projects have to go through and projects that fail, not because of merit but because they hit these almost impenetrable man made blockades. Compare this with the oil wells going in, gas fracking and thousand of miles of pipe lines for oil and gas transmission going forward, then the conclusion can only be the "Big Guys" are winning. It's not good for the country just for a few pockets that are already bulging. Shame on them. Solar will win eventually because it is the right thing to do. Persist in the good fight.
