News this week from two firms supplying solar PV process equipment to three different suppliers: GT Technologies and Oxford Instruments, to a Samsung-MEMC joint venture and Hanwha's US operation.
January 6, 2011 - News this week from two firms supplying solar PV process equipment to three different suppliers:
Seller: GT Advanced Technologies
Buyer: SMP, a JV between Samsung Fine Chemicals and MEMC Singapore
Equipment: Silane production equipment and technology, for polysilicon production using the fluidized bed reactor process.
Seller: GT Advanced Technologies
Buyer: "New polysilicon customer" (undisclosed)
Equipment: TCS (Tricholorosilane/silane) technology and equipment
Together these two orders total $66.5M, attached to GT's fiscal 3Q12 backlog (ended Dec. 31), which already surpassed $500M based on previous order announcements. These are also separate from an engineering services contract booked with an existing poly-Si supplier in the September quarter (possibly this one).
Seller: Oxford Instruments Plasma Technology
Buyer: Hanwha Group
Equipment: PECVD and sputter modules (PlasmaPro System100 multichamber cluster tool), for c-Si research: materials, cell concepts, and process characterization
This will be installed at Hanwha Solar America's recently established Advanced PV Research Laboratory in Santa Clara, CA.
