Solar PV glass production ramps at Ducatt

December 13, 2011 -- Ducatt began production of its "ultimate solar glass" this week. The glass, a mixture of sand and recycled glass, has 95% transparency and can be made as thin as 2mm for solar photovoltaics applications.

Since its spin-out from Emgo in 2010, Ducatt has established a production facility with dedicated solar glass furnace and state-of-the-art production lines. Production will start with uncoated, patterned, low-iron glass with a thickness of 4 and 3.2mm.

Photovoltaic module makers can request glass samples and place orders immediately. Ducatt's first customer shipments will go in January 2012.
