I applaud the development of this high-voltage direct current (HVDC) transmission project! The Public Utility Commissions need to quickly permit new projects like this to encourage use of American, renewable energy! Wind energy can displace fossil fuel electricity generation more efficiently, if the wind turbines are dispersed over a wider area to even out the power spikes when a local wind blows. The wider the dispersion of wind turbines, the more even the wind power will be.
Solar power is only made in the daytime. Wind power can happen at any time of the day. Let's figure out how to use all of the renewable power we can.
Peak electricity demand is in late afternoon to early evening. Especially in the summer air conditioning season. Dispersed generation assets with reliable transmission will allow supply to meet demand.
There are 4 time zones in the USA. 6:00 PM happens 4 times a day across the USA. Transmission brings electricity from areas of high production and low demand to areas of high demand and low production.
