Combined with solar power, biomass can replace a significant chunk of the fuels until now mostly supplied by oil. How much exactly is anyone's guess. But the potential and resources seem to be staggering at first sight. See, for instance:http://www.sundropfuels.com/

There was a German study that combined solar with wind and Biomethane.

They showed that this combination could produce a stable source of electricity, with biomethane providing the baseline source.

Another study commissioned by the the German Green Party concluded that Germany ALONE could provide enough biomethane to replace ALL the Natural Gas being imported from Russia for all of the EU by 2020
