October 21, 2011 -- PanelClaw recently began high-volume manufacturing of its solar panel mounting systems, and opened a product development lab. Seth Zimring, PanelClaw, discusses solar installation safety and reliability by way of standards and certifications.

Zimring speaks with senior technical editor Debra Vogler at Solar Power International this week in Dallas, TX.

Zimring talks about the company's move to high-volume manufacturing, and their new testing lab. PanelClaw can produce over half a GW of solar photovoltaics mounting systems in the US now.

The company's Testing and Innovation Lab will help PanelClaw accelerate its new product introduction schedule. The lab is 5,200sq.ft. and supplies a "critical component" for new product reliability testing and certification.

The solar photovoltaics industry as a whole needs to continue to push for standards and certifications, Zimring says. The market needs to be educated on reliablity and safety. PanelClaw is working with Underwriter's Laboratory to establish requirements for solar mounting systems. Zimring discusses the grounding and mounting options available for lower costs, simpler installation, and better reliability.
