Public awareness in Ontario should include bringing to light the health care costs ALREADY paid in taxes as a result of poor air quality caused by coal power generation. Given the stats in Ontario show ~ 10,000 fatalities per year due to poor air quality induced respiratory problems, it is clear that the potential for offsetting health care costs by increased renewable penetration into the Ontario grid must be considered when examining the added costs to electricity costs.

The FIT rates for solar rooftop $713/Mwh are the highest in the world. Political threats to reduce rates means a fresh flood of applications with urgency to get in before the door closes.

Tim has provided an excellent list.

An updated look at the fate of program applications is provided at:

http://d-bits.com/is-ontario-fit-program-losing-momentum/

The data confirms that the challenges of fundamental application approval and Tim's Item #4 Connection and Grid Constraints remain a major hurdle. This is particularly true in the microFIT program where less than 20% of approved applications have been connected.

That approved applications are not able to connect is a serious issue for program success and credibility.
