Isn't it interesting that Canada doesn't seem to have a problem increasing hydro capacity, but here in the states we suffer under the burden of over regulation and extreme environmentalism for developing our own untapped hydro potential? Isn't is also interesting that our value system allows us to buy hydro from our neighbors to the north, but not encourage hydro development here, and not produce it and buy it here, thus not allowing us to support our own economy?

yes, it is interesting. Now I need a hot cup of tea, given the frigid weather. Hot water being generated in a microwave powered by 100% renewable sourced electricity, of course.

Many in Canada do have a problem with daming our rivers and destroying natural habitats for the sake of supplying power to the US. The recently announced Peace river project will disrupt peoples lives remove them from their land and destroy a beautiful valley. This whole project can be avoided if we concentrate on efficiencies and less enviromentally intrusive renewables.
If all the buildings in North America were brought up to the passive house standard we would see a 1/3 reduction in energy needs. Next step EV's whos power is supplied by PV's
