Storage integrated with generation is essential to the long-term growth of renewables as a share of total energy generation. Denmark is doing this with wind and district heat, by heating water using excess wind energy, then storing the hot water.

I wanted to go to this, but couldn't make it. I live in San Diego which is only about 2hrs away. I heard it was really informative. http://www.homebuiltenergy.net/solar-diy/

Well....it was an experience this year. Clearly SPI has grown so large that it is bursting at the seams to fit under one roof. This year, having it spread across the street and in the "basement" was less than ideal. Needed a taxi to get to see it all. 3 days was not enough time to connect and digest it all. Also, there were probably more than 27,000 people there.

As we had a booth and were not interviewed, here is my take aways:
1. The industry is spongy across the country and globe. Incentives are either too juicy or not enough, creating yo-yo cycles in the land grab for $.
2. Due to avoidance of the great depression #2, lots of nubiles have entered the arena and are groping for their seat at the dinner table, often cutting their pricing to turn a sale.
3. Profits are hard to find as the desire to get market share dilutes the sanctity of basic business fundamentals.

Come take a class in business folks....get beyond 3% net profits.

We are close to our product launch.......this industry needs help.....I've been there, and as Clinton famously said- "I feel your pain and wanna help"!

Solar forces should be readying for a "Superbowl" type advertising blitz. Show the product advantages, include electric car charging (with swappable batteries). Show a senior citizen using the extra income from the electric bills they did not have to pay. Show construction increases. Show factories using solar as assistive power. Explain the long term positive force on the economy when rooftop solar is brought directly to millions of consumers and businesses. Show solar, powering robotics to assist persons with disabilities.
Be as dynamic and creative as the other advertising participants.
