New Law Requires Illinois Utilities To Buy More Solar Power

Solar power will be coming to Illinois more quickly as a result of two new bills signed into law yesterday.

I guess Illinois is going in the right direction. But for Ohio I think we should pass a law for 5%,10%, even 20% energy to be produced by any acceptable renewable energy source. That being solar, wind, or geothermal.

With Illinois' current budget problems it is going to be difficult to get a significant RPS with SACPs to guarantee a stable REC market. I hope they take the long term view that small upfront costs will generate huge rewards in employment and investment. We know the demand for renewables is strong. Renewable, distributed generation can be the next Internet in terms of job creation and tax revenue, if only the seed money is planted.
