Actually it makes no difference whether this is an American or offshore producer of the tidal power.One would think with our extensive history of electric turbines in dams at our disposal a solution could be created using old technology.

$5,000,000 for 60 kW!?! That's like $83 / watt... Tidal power is interesting because it is so vast that taming it is inescapably difficult at the same time that it's impossible to ignore as a renewable resource. Also, degradation is always an issues with the sea.

Hope it is not true. When France did build Tide Power Station in 1966 that produces 240 Megawatts, generated by its 24 turbines, you want reader to believe that American achievement in first decade of 21st Century is 250 KVA?
As far as I recall on the spot, N.Y. reversible Tide PS in Hudson river produces more. And their GWts do not have a golden tag.
