Thank you for trying to inject some realism into the discussion of energy storage.

The simple truth is that electricity-to-electricity storage is extremely expensive. This hasn't changed for 100 years, and it won't change anytime soon.

If you're interested in a much better approach, both for grid stability and for transportation energy at large, look at www.WindFuels.com.

We have developed a process for using excess carbon neutral energy (when the wind blows at night no-one wants the electricity, so the wind turbines are currently "curtailed") to chemically recycle CO2 back into gasoline, jet fuel, diesel, and other hydrocarbons.

Instead of being fixated on using electricity to run cars, we can simply store that electrical energy AS LIQUID FUELS, and run the same cars we already have.

It's far more cost effective than lithium batteries, and no-one loses.
