(August 11, 2010) -- Conergy Italy has added two more solar parks in Apulia, Italy. A total of 7,000 Conergy PowerPlus modules have been installed on Conergy SolarLinea mounting systems in the two parks in Parabita and Nardo. The six Conergy IPG 300K inverters in the three Conergy CIS 540 central inverter stations feed into the regional grid. The construction of these two parks during the past three months brings the number of solar energy plants constructed by Conergy in Apulia to six, with the twin parks in San Marzano and the two plants at the beach resorts of the BluSerena hotel group in Torre di Canne and Ginosa also making exclusive use of Conergy components. Conergy has turned from being a supply chain player to being a project developer, according to analysis from iSuppli in April 2010. The 6 solar parks supply energy to more than 2,100 households in Apulia.
The 1MW park in Parabita produces 1,400MW hours of clean solar energy per year, supplying 400 households or around 17% of the local inhabitants. At the same time, the park reduces harmful greenhouse gas emissions by 760 tonnes annually. The overall balance of the Apulian Conergy parks is more than 6,600 megawatt hours of clean energy for more than 2,100 households, and a CO2 saving of approximately 3,500 tonnes a year.
The Conergy parks once again underline the Italian region's leading role in terms of green energy. Just five years ago, Apulia was still bottom of the league when it came to renewable energy in Italy. This was before politicians changed course, however, and the region became the first in Italy to introduce a programme for the development of alternative, environmentally-friendly energies. Today Apulia is the country's undisputed wind and solar-energy champion.
"The parks will provide long-term support to Apulia's green development concept in order to preserve the environment. Secondly, our German PowerPlus Premium module is expanding across the whole of Italy," explains Conergy Italy Chief Giuseppe Sofia.
