How did the U.S. small wind turbine industry continue to dominate the world market throughout the recession?

In fact, 95% of all small wind turbines sold in the U.S. last year were made by U.S. manufacturers.

raverett:

This is really a good question. Hopefully what I say is helpful.

If I purchased a home and it already had solar PV installed I would probably start my research by selecting the wind turbine manufacture I wanted and then would shoot them an e-mail asking for some guidance.

However, if I was a fairly accomplished DIYer I would just install the wind turbine in accordance with the manufacturers recommendations and then call my local licensed electrician and ask them to hook it up to my existing breaker panel. He will most likely know how to do that for you.

Good luck

We own land at the very top of a ridge in SW Virginia and have been trying to determine the feasibility of a wind turbine. I suspect it is a marginal site and available wind data is on too gross of a scale to assess the site. Other than erecting a tower and making measurements, are there other ways to evaluate the site?

It is a good development !

The smaller capacity segment was almost forgotten by the Industry and Technologists. Growth in Multi MW segment is too fast and it is not very clear whether the higher sizes, particularly 2 MW and higher sizes are yielding more specific production.

Small investors need support and encouragement !
