The Philippines is the second top producer of geothermal energy after the U.S. Geothermal energy provides 27 % for its electricity needs. After this BP tragic oil spill in the Gulf of Mexico, geothermal exploration might be placed in sharper focus. Basically the same oil drilling equipments are the same. I haven't read of any newsworthy account related to geothermal mishaps. Promoting this venture might help local economy because the U.S. produces a lot of drilling equipments.
