Treasury Grant Program Yields Positive Results for Renewables

In solar and wind backwaters, like Tennessee, where attitudes are conservative and the state grant program has gone through a lot of bungling, solar is just now getting started. But started, indeed! The state incentive program is going through another change and the rules are uncertain, but I have confidence that it will finally roll out.... Just in time for the Section 1603 grant option to expire. That will change the type of solar buyer and the type of third party investor for sure. Like the Treasury/DOE 48C program, Section 1603 does not cost the government anything, but is the "magic sauce" that makes solar possible in Tennessee. Please use your good offices to ehp get Section 1603 extended, so the Southeast can get a fair share.
