Absolute "Bull," Georgia doesn't have the courage to tax fossil fuels to fund State incentives for development of Georgian bio-energy facilities. Why is there NO sugar(energy)cane to cellulosic ethanol plants even planned for Georgia? The State should tax gasoline sales and use those funds to promote cellulosic ethanol production in Georgia and E85 use in the State.

There is ample supply of sustainable wood in parts of Europe, most notably Russia, where a one million ton wood pellet plant is under contruction and will start production in Q3 this year. There is potential to produce several million additional tons of wood pellets in Europe, which would save the long shipments across the Atlantic.

The idea that humanity is about to start consuming the last of its forests and grasslands in an attempt to replace the millions of years of stored fossil fuels is beyond sad. It has recently been estimated that 30% of all birds, mammals, reptiles, and amphibians will be threatened with extinction by 2040.

I was motivated to jot down a few thoughts on the biomass craze by an earlier article on the subject:

If Georgia is the leader in biomass, that is not saying much since utility monopolies are allowed to block it.

Good luck to Georgia, then.

At least producing fuel in GA won't take food off anybody's table.
