Last week's World Future Energy Summit in Abu Dhabi was a coming-together of state and industry leaders with plenty of unfinished business from December's Copenhagen climate talks.

A nice move AbuDhabi. Its heartening to know that the Gulf region is showing interest in Renewable energy investments. While most of the technologies are yet to reach the underdeveloped countries it is a shameful situation to impose restrictions to their dtevelopements in terms of corbon economy. To compensate their interests, most projects must be positioned in such areas and global funding on renewable energy's main focus shall be concentrated on underdeveloped and developed countries. A mechnaism for carbon freezing, research centres for future energy resources may be started in these areas. International subsidies package may be supplemented to such projects started in these regions.

"...creating comfortable human living conditions in a hot, desert environment is a global challenge"? No, it's not. It's a DESERT challenge. I know. I live in a desert. Viva Las Vegas, baby!

no real surprize; the "Malquaf" or wind catcher was invented by these Bedowin (sp?) people a thousand years ago to passively cool there buildings...way cool.We westerners are stupid enough to buy their oil to drive our SUV's to the air conditioned mall until we are broke and buy useless plastic junk. Cheers to the forward thinkers.

There is absolutely no doubt that Abu Dhabi has taken a lead in renewable energy initiative by bringing world renowned University and helping graduates from all over the world to study cutting edge technology at its own expense.

This is only one part of their program. MASDAR is setting up a Zero Carbon Emission MASDAR CITY that will get its entire power from renewable energy sources. Not only that, they have initiated technologies such that the products used in building the city are also those that have minimum carbon footprint.

Also they are supporting several dozen companies and entrepreneurs to develop new ideas and grow on those developments by providing completely intellectual property rights.

I would be more than glad to guide and help any company who wants to know more about MASDAR and how they can benefit from such a generous offer to set up their businesses in the MASDAR CITY. Write to me on qsurti@gmail.com
