OPDE Secures €100 Million in Project Financing

Fustiñana, Spain [RenewableEnergyWorld.com] Spanish multinational solar energy development firm OPDE has signed one the largest project finance deals in Spain for solar photovoltaic projects. The €100 million agreement has been signed with Banco Santander, La Caixa and BBVA for two solar photovoltaic projects in Tordesillas and Valtierra, which together will have an installed capacity of 22 megawatts (MW).
Each of these projects employed Mecasolar 1- Axis Azimuth seasonal trackers, Trina Solar modules and SMA inverters.
OPDE said that the deal was the "finishing touch" for 2009, a year in which the company has financed, built and connected a total of 28.38 MW of solar energy projects in Spain. in 2009 the company completed a number of different projects including a 1.87-MW project in Belvis de Monroy, a 4.4-MW system in Toro, as well as 11-MW plants in Valtierra and Tordesillas. Each of these solar farms were also been funded through a €125 million finance deal with Banco Santander, La Caixa and BBVA. All of these projects employed Mecasolar 1 Axis Azimuth seasonal trackers, Trina Solar modules and SMA inverters. OPDE also said that it currently has a 2.75-MW plant La Lora and a 1.76-MW project in Écija in development. Both projects are expected to receive financial support during the first quarter of 2010.
